Job Duties
The Machinery Foreman is responsible for overseeing the machinery department, assigning machinery staff to appropriate jobs, maintaining schedules, and coordinate with other department as needed for personnel assignments and workflow. This position is also required to help oversee and maintain the Gladding-Hearn lifting and rigging procedures as well as manage the inventory of lifting and rigging harnesses and straps. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications/Skills requirement

  • Knowledge and experience in the installation of water jets, propellers, gears, shafting, and engines.
  • Must be able to operate alignment tools such as dial indicators, laser ALIGNMENT tools, feeler gauges, calipers,microcrometers and take appropriate readings with understanding of appropriate tolerances.
  • Machine shop background/experience is a plus
  • Must have experience with metal fabrication and welding.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use hand tools and shop tools required.
  • Maintain inventory of machinery department tools and lifting and rigging harnesses.
  • Maintain compliance reports and coordinate labor.
  • Ability to oversee machinery crew and prioritize tasks.
  • Evaluate potential new hires and train new employees.
  • Communicate with managers on job progress.
  • Oversee and maintain job site safety and insure job site is properly prepped.
  • Interface with vendors on an as needed basis.
  • Crane license is a plus but not required.
     

Physical demands
Candidate must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and transport equipment and boxes. Able to work on and climb ladders, bend, stoop, crawl and work aboard ships both in the shipyard and on the water. Ability to work under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Must be capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment and work in a noisy and physically demanding environment.

General Duties

In this role, you will:

- Conduct high volume prospecting to qualify leads (50+ calls per day)
